Madeleine has been ranking things a lot lately. Every day she says to me, "Do you want to know what my favorite ___ is?" Fill in the blank. I, and anyone else who'll listen, have received lists of her favorite foods, restaurants, songs, and this morning, horses.Funny how everything can be "placed" when you're a child. Maddie's always asking me what my favorite color or food is and I honestly cannot tell her. I love most colors and so many foods that the idea of picking just one is overwhelming.
Maybe a way for children to find their way through the gigantic world is to categorize things and make them a bit smaller and more manageable.
Or, maybe Madeleine is hinting around for Christmas - but she can't really think that a paint pony is in her future, can she?
